Mass Appeal has just released the first installment of their compilation, Starting 5 Vol. 1. Featuring their starting line-up Fashawn, Stro, Ezri, Cantrell and 07 Phi, the EP features 8 tracks.

Nas & Erykah Badu – This Bitter Land

On July 29th executive producer Nas will release the new film The Land and its accompanying soundtrack. Today we get a taste of the film’s musical component with the release of “This Bitter Land” with God’s Son and Erykah Badu. The Land, which is set in Cleveland, tells the story of a group of skateboarding Hip-Hop kids who find themselves in over their heads on the city’s streets.

Nas Premieres New J Dilla Collab “The Sickness” at SXSW

Last night at Mass Appeal’s Live at the BBQ showcase at SXSW, Nas previewed a new track called “The Sickness” that finds him trading verses with the late J Dilla. The song, produced by Madlib, will appear on the upcoming Dilla Rap album The Diary, which arrives next month. The track was not previously included on the tracklist, so I presume it’s one of the two bonus tracks that you see on the iTunes listing.
