Mary J. Blige “Can’t Be Life”

Posted in 1 on May 23, 2020 by bobbybounce

This can’t be life.

Persevering through the struggles of life, Mary J. Blige counts her blessings on this release off the motion picture soundtrack to Body Cam.

Body Cam, which is out now, stars Mary J. Blige as a police officer who mysteriously realizes that body cam footage of her partner’s murder only plays in her mind only.

The song reunites Blige with longtime collaborators Chucky Thompson (My Life, Mary, The Breakthrough), Denise Rich (“Don’t Waste Your Time” duet w/Aretha Franklin from Mary) and Bruce Miller (No More Drama, Love & Life), and brings in longtime songwriting vets Stacy Barthe (Beyonce, Nipsey Hussle, Rihanna), Jimmy Cozier (Janet Jackson, Chris Brown, Alicia Keys) and Aaron Phillips (P!nk, Demi Lovato, Kelly Price). “Can’t Be Life” is an original song for the film Body Cam and speaks candidly to the current times.

An intense action thriller, Body Cam stars Blige, Nat Wolff (Semper Fi), David Zayas (“Dexter”), and Anika Noni Rose (“Bates Motel”) and is directed by Malik Vitthal whose directorial debut, Imperial Dreams, won the Audience Award at the Sundance Film Festival.

When a routine traffic stop results in the unexplained, grisly death of her colleague, a cop (Blige) realizes footage of the incident will play for her eyes only. As the attacks mount, she races to understand the supernatural force behind them.

Body Cam is available to purchase now on Digital

Directed by Benji Filmz, David Styles pulls up to his Juices For Life bar in Yonkers and mingles with his customers. Elsewhere, Pinero walks through a busy street and then posts up on a corner and lights up. Puff, puff, pass.

Problem “Janet Freestyle (Remix)”

For Nipsey.

Problem takes a moment to reflect on his Janet Jackson-inspired remix dedicated to Nipsey Hussle.

Over a Mike & Keys flip of Ms. Jackson’s classic, “Gon Till It’s Gone”, Compton’s finest raps the importance of life while at a field overlooking the mountains and inside a convenient store. R.I.P.

Jhene Aiko Ft. H.E.R. “B.S.”

Jhene Aiko is back on her bullshit in her Chilombo‘s new video featuring H.E.R.

In the animated clip, the two R&B singers ride through Hawaii where they vent on their toxic relationships. They park by the mountain side, cruise through the exotic island, and rest on top of an erupting volcano on a stormy night.

The visual follows the preceding visuals “Lotus” and last week’s “Magic Hour“. Jhené Aiko’s Chilombo (Deluxe) drops later this month.
