Blu & Nottz – Yesterday (feat. Sene & Elisa Meri)

Posted in 1 on April 29, 2018 by bobbybounce

Whether you enjoy Blu & Nottz’s work together or are just an all-around Hip-Hop head, you’ll find lots to love in their latest collab, “Yesterday” featuring longtime collaborator Sene and vocalist Elisa Meri.
The track is a particularly huge treat for those who copped Blu & Nottz’s two projects (‘Gods In The Spirit’ and ‘Titans In The Flesh’), which Coalmine Records is reissuing with much more than a glossy coat of paint. The music’s been re-mixed and remastered so it’s nice and buttery, with stunning new artwork by Dan Lish, plus Blu restructured the track list to better suit his narrative.
And then there’s “Yesterday,” of course, the never-before-heard Blu & Nottz collabo that’s soulful and full of hope. Meri’s vocals are a pure delight on the hook as she breathes life into the sample, while Blu & Sene take it back to their roots and trade verses. Sene may now be better known as an actor—did you catch him in Luke Cage?—but his rap game clearly hasn’t lost a step.
“Yesterday” is now available through all digital retailers, and can be purchased for instant grat off the iTunes pre-order for the full length release of ‘Gods in the Spirit, Titans in the Flesh,’ which is due out April 13th through all digital outlets and streaming platforms, and can be purchased on CD, vinyl and cassette, via Coalmine Records.

Trophy Case (Featuring Tristate and Planet Asia (Produced by Steve Spiffler)

Posted in 1 on April 29, 2018 by bobbybounce

Producer/emcee, Steve Spiffler, has been on a roll the past couple of years. From releasing some of the sauciest ‘Soul Flips’ and dropping some gnarly 16s, the 26 year old Stockton, CA native never fails month after month to lace the game with something fresh and innovative. This month, he teams up with underground legends Planet Asia and Tristate for “Trophy Case,” a super soulful and buttery joint, which boasts both Spiffler’s production and rhyme skills. TriState sets off the three man relay with a 16 that stays glued to the beat like a slalom course. After the sample rocks for a few bars, Spliff steps to the mic dropping bars from his third-eye with raps like, “Flourite on the gold chain and let it cool my chest/ Bitch I’m Chakra Khan, they see my aura beaming through my chest.” To complete the trifecta, PA Medallions delivers a rewind worthy verse, abound with similes, metaphors that can “communicate with dolphins and whales.”
