And on the Roc Nation roster grows. Thursday (May 25), Billboard reports DJ and producer Statik Selektah has signed a management deal with the Jay Z-founded entertainment powerhouse. Selektah has also announced 8, his eighth album due for release this summer. According to Selektah, the deal came about naturally.

“I’ve known [Roc Nation management rep] Kristi [Clifford] over there for a long time and she had mentioned my name,” Selektah tells Billboard of the deal. “My name came up in a meeting when they were talking about The LOX. I wasn’t on the last LOX album and Kristi spoke up and said that [I’m] on the next one, so it kind of started a conversation and we started throwing out ideas with me coming up [to Roc Nation]. A lot of the people up there was familiar with what I was doing. I played some music and it just all came together really good. The whole staff up there is exactly what I need for my movement to go to the next level. I think I bring my own flavor of what I do as well.”

For the Boston-based producer, who’s made tracks for people like Action Bronson, Lauryn Hill, Nas, and Joey Bada$$ the move represents a chance to expand his sound while working with more artists than ever before. It looks like he’ll be doing just that.

His 8 album will be released through Showdown/Duck Down Music and he says the project will include features from 2Chainz, Joey Bada$$, Run the Jewels, The LOX, Wale, Action Bronson, Black Thought, Raekwon, Freddie Givvs, Westside Gunn, Conway and the late Sean Price. Selektah also reveals that he’s produced for 2 Chainz and Nas’ forthcoming albums. Sounds dope.

It sounds like Selektah is up for a big summer, and we can’t wait to see what he’s got to offer.
