Maino – The Ghost of Kalief Browder

One of the many tragedies of the story of Kalief Browder, the New York City teen who hung himself after being locked away on Rikers Island for years on false charges, is that he made it out of the jail and back to the streets only to succumb to his own pain. The only upside of this is that he got to give voice to his own story before he left us, a small luxury not afforded to so many victims of the criminal justice system. On his new track, Maino looks to amplify Browder’s voice further, rapping from the young man’s perspective and adding some context for those who may still not know the story.
