Kanye Hospitalized “For His Own Safety”

The other day, after I learned of Kanye’s bizarre Trump endorsement, I joked that he had finally lost his mind. Now that joke seems disturbingly prescient as several media outlets are reporting that Kanye was hospitalized in Los Angeles “for his own health and safety”. According to NBC 4 in LA, police responded to a medical welfare call at the home of trainer Harley Pasternak at around 1:20 on Monday afternoon where Kanye was reportedly being examined for exhaustion.

It’s unclear what exactly happened next, but a decision was made to bring Kanye in for psychiatric evaluation after he was said to be “acting erratically”, and he was handcuffed and taken to UCLA Medical Center.

This incident comes after a couple days of surprising, but not necessarily un-Kanye behavior including the Trump rant in San Jose over the weekend. The following night at a show in Sacramento, Ye went off on Beyonce and Jay Z and criticized Hillary Clinton and Mark Zuckerberg of Facebook before abruptly walking off stage. Shortly thereafter, Ye canceled his Los Angeles show and eventually, the remaining 21 dates of the Saint Pablo tour were also postponed.

UPDATE: TMZ has more details. The police were called by Kanye’s personal physician, Dr. Michael Farzam, who warned them that he was suffering from “temporary psychosis due to sleep deprivation and dehydration” and had assaulted a staff member at Pasternak’s gym. There seems to be some confusion over whether or not the Doctor placed Kanye on a 5150 psychiatric hold, which would also explain the handcuffs. Shout out http://www.NahRight.com
