The Game ft. Lorine Chia – Rest In Purple (Prince Tribute)

Posted in 1 with tags , , , , on April 23, 2016 by bobbybounce

Prepare yourselves, because there is about to be a whole new genre of music called “Prince Tribute Songs” that is going to emerge over the next couple of weeks. Game checks in with one of the first, “Rest In Purple,” featuring Lorine Chia and produced by Bongo. Honestly, I saw this floating around last night, but I felt like we needed to give our man at least 24 hours before we started the onslaught. I woke up this morning a bit more receptive to tributes though and this isn’t too bad. It samples “When Doves Cry” and Game shares some pretty heartfelt thoughts on Prince Rogers Nelson.

Prince, legendary performer and musical genius, has passed away at age 57. Authorities in Minnesota confirmed earlier today that they had been called to the artist’s famous Paisley Park Studios complex to investigate a fatality, but have only just confirmed that it was in fact Prince who had passed. The singer was hospitalized on April 15th after his private jet made an emergency landing due to an unspecified medical emergency. A couple of days later he appeared at Paisely Park to reassure fans that he was ok. Prince’s influence on popular music and Hip-Hop specifically can not be understated, and as I’m sure my fellow children of the 80′s can attest, this is an especially tragic loss. R.I.P Prince
