BREAKING NEWS: LLoyd Banks Arrested For Assault (Details)

Posted in BobbyBounce on January 10, 2010 by bobbybounce

New York rapper and G-Unit honcho Lloyd Banks
has been arrested along with four other men in Ontario Canada.

Banks, real name Christopher Charles Lloyd, and four others allegedly sequestered road manager and “Canadian booking artist” Chris Hines of Chris Hines/ Ultimate Ent in a hotel near Kitchener (Ontario, Canada) where Banks was scheduled to perform.

According to accounts of the alleged incident, they assaulted Hines and left him to be rushed to hospital.

Hines suffered a few minor lacerations as well as a bruised eye and a possible head trauma.

Sources say Banks was scheduled to perform a few select cuts at Club N.V. on Friday, January 8th.

However, after arriving late to the venue, Banks reportedly performed half a track and walked off the stage to the dismay of the already agitated fans.

When Hines refused to pay Banks for not fulfilling the performance agreement, he was assaulted and left to be rushed to the hospital.

Fan accounts of the lack-luster performance have been removed around the clock from G-Unit’s homebase on the web, Thisis50.com

Stern sidekick in suicide try

Posted in BobbyBounce on January 8, 2010 by bobbybounce

Troubled comic Artie Lange landed in the hospital after stabbing himself nine times in an apparent suicide attempt, sources told The Post. Lange’s frantic mom called 911 Saturday morning after she entered his Hoboken apartment and found the bloodied funnyman, a law-enforcement source said. Lange sustained six “hesitation wounds” and three deep plunges. A source close to Lange’s management team confirmed that the Howard Stern sidekick stabbed himself, adding that his mother had come to visit him that day to drop off food. Surgeons managed to save Lange despite heavy bleeding. “We all have our demons,” Stern said on-air this week, referring to Lange’s past battles with addiction. “Artie has given this show tremendous moments of great comedy. He’s a tremendous contributor. He is a good man. Don’t forget how great he is.”

Get well Artie!

Homicide victim trying to ‘get on the right track’

Posted in BobbyBounce on January 5, 2010 by bobbybounce

UTICA — The fiancée of a Utica man shot to death at a James Street bar Saturday said she hopes he will be remembered “in a positive light.”

But as the investigation continues into 27-year-old Umar Khadafy Abdur-Rahman’s death, questions about who instigated the shooting remain.

“Different witnesses are saying different things,” Deputy Police Chief Mark Williams said Monday, adding that investigators have not yet confirmed who started the fight at Geno’s Tavern Saturday night.

Abdur-Rahman was fatally shot in the chest at about 10:40 p.m. inside the 202 James St. establishment.

At least one witness has told police that the victim displayed a weapon inside the bar during an argument earlier that evening, left after someone took his gun away, and then returned later with another gun – leading to shots being fired.

But Quantesa Watson said that sort of behavior would be out of character for the man she had a son with in August and planned to marry this spring.

“That definitely wasn’t Umar,” she said. “Everyone loved him. And every time you saw him, he wanted to tell you about a song he was writing or his kids. He was a good person.”

“Trying to right his wrongs”

According to police, Abdur-Rahman had a history of violence and arrests, including several violent domestic incidents against his mother, as well as the girlfriends who mothered several of his children.

And, after becoming the victim of an earlier shooting in 2006, he refused to cooperate with police to track down his shooter, Williams said.

But Watson said her fiancé was “trying to right his wrongs and get on the right track.”

The father of four children – Ramaaj, 4 months; Aliyah, 4; Tyquan, 5; and ZyAsia, 7 – most recently worked at Burlington Coat Factory in North Utica, and had registered to take computer engineering classes at Mohawk Valley Community College this semester.

Abdur-Rahman and Watson were planning an April wedding, and hoped to leave Utica after he earned his degree, she said.

“It’s definitely a shock,” she said of his death. ‘I’m just trying to take it one day at a time and try to be there for his mom and his other kids.”

Abdur-Rahman was the son of Hassan and Salimah Abdur-Rahman. Born in Brooklyn, he grew up in Utica and graduated from Thomas R. Proctor High School in 2000.

He also was part of a local rap and hip-hop group called Black Fence Entertainment, that planned to release a CD later this year, Watson said.

Watson said Abdur-Rahman had not made a habit of going out recently, and she believes he was at Geno’s that night to keep a tradition of toasting the deceased.

Several hours before he was shot to death, Abdur-Rahman had spoken at a funeral at St. Paul’s Baptist Church on Leah Street for a friend who recently had been killed.

Thomas Winston, 29, formerly of Utica, was stabbed and killed by a 16-year-old girl in Queens on Christmas Eve.

Abdur-Rahman and Winston knew each other from the local music scene, Watson said.

“That was the last time I saw him, was when he was going to his friend’s funeral,” she said.

Investigation continues

Police still hope to speak with others who were at the bar Saturday evening, Williams said.

While investigators have a possible motive in mind, the investigation has been slowed by a “no-snitch mentality” in the community.

And Williams said he finds the story he’s heard so far from witnesses unsettling.

“If this story is true — about him having a gun taken away from him, and he leaves and nobody called police — then that’s concerning,” he said. “If somebody had called us, then maybe we would have been able to prevent this homicide.”

Funeral arrangements for Abdur-Rahman are being handled by Eannace Funeral Home but had not been finalized as of Monday evening.

Watson said the family is waiting to schedule the funeral for after Abdur-Rahman’s older sister Maliki Balquish “Bella” Abdur-Rahman can return home from Iraq, where she is serving with the U.S. Army.
