Havoc Speaks on Prodigy’s Passing

Posted in 1 on June 22, 2017 by bobbybounce

moBBOver the past couple of days there has been an immense outpouring of support and condolences for the family and friends of Mobb Deep’s Prodigy after his untimely passing earlier this week due to complications from sickle-cell anemia. Today we hear from P’s longtime partner and one of his closest friends, Havoc.

In a video statement he provided to TMZ, Hav explains how he first heard that P had been admitted to a Las Vegas hospital and the subsequent rumors of his passing, but didn’t think much of it because of the frequency of Prodigy’s hospital visits over the course of his life.

He eventually got the confirmation from their road manager after leaving his son’s graduation ceremony and nearly broke down while driving. Hav is understandably distraught after losing a friend and creative partner he’s known since they were 15 years old and says he’s having a hard time even listening to any Mobb music or looking at photographs of P.

Prodigy of Mobb Deep Has Passed Away

Posted in 1 on June 21, 2017 by bobbybounce

Well folks, we lost a true legend today. Prodigy, original H.N.I.C and co-founder of Mobb Deep has reportedly passed away in Las Vegas at the age of 42. A rap icon since the release of Mobb Deep’s The Infamous, P is responsible for some of the illest verses ever committed to record during the height of New York City’s dominance in the mid-90’s and has influenced more MCs and fans that we could possibly imagine. Prodigy’s bars perfectly captured the essence of the city at its grimiest and will go down in history as some of the best gangster rap ever written, period. P’s cause of death has yet to be announced, but any fan of his knows he put up a valiant fight against sickle-cell anemia for most of his adult life. UPDATE: A statement from P’s publicist has been included below. Apparently, he had been dealing with severe complications from his illness over the last several days.  Rest in Peace Prodigy….. #MobbDeep #QB #HNIC
